Pellonia is a kind goddess, but stern and serious. She has a motherly personality, caring and authoritative, and she will never back down when she is defending something or someone important to her. She is also the goddess of motherhood and family.
A majority of the Human pantheon see Pellonia as an adopted mother-figure. Along with Celestus and Pax, she is a member of the Triumvirate of Good. She has also become fast friends with Kallipygia and Cyrrollalee, the Halfling goddess of Family. She frequently finds herself opposing one or another of the evil gods, especially Invidia and Ceres.
Pellonia’s appearance is that of a middle-aged motherly woman. In her motherly aspect she wears simple dresses of homespun fabric in bright, cheerful colors. When her ire is raised and she takes on her aspect of protector, her dresses fall away with her smile, replaced by ancient plate armor and a battered but unbreakable shield and flail.
Church of PelloniaThe church, like their goddess has two aspects. Every settlement with more than a few dozen residents will have at least a small temple and a servant of Pellonia the Mother to attend. They act as midwife, family councilor, and adviser for the community. Less numerous, but just as much in demand are servants of Pellona the Defender. These martial servants travel from place to place, defending the defenseless and helping those in need.
Worshippers and Clergy
Clergy of Pellona the Mother dress in simple clothes in bright colors, with the gray bear of their goddess embroidered or quilted into the fabric. Clerics and Paladins of Pellona the Defender dress in muted gray colors and are prohibited from decorating their shields or armor. They wear or carry simple pewter bear tokens.
Temples and Shrines
Temples and shrines vary wildly, with no standard design put forth by the church. Temples are built by the communities they are in, and typically match the architecture and building materials of the rest of the settlement. Shrines are usually built by wandering followers of the Protector aspect, and as such vary even more widely than her temples.
