Satyrs

Satyrs, known in some regions as fauns or nymphs depending on their gender, are debauched and hedonistic creatures. They adore wine, music, and carnal delights, and are renowned as rakes and smooth-talkers, wooing unwary maidens and shepherd boys and leaving a trail of awkward explanations in their wakes. That is the stereotype, anyway. There are individuals, families, and even settlements that defy parts or even all of the preconceived notions people have.
Satyrs are omnisexual and responsibly non-monogamous even among themselves. They believe in personal freedom as the highest virtue and mutual respect as the only important law.

Physical Description: Many people do not realize that Satyr males, known as Fauns, and females, known as Nymphs, are even the same species. The men are short as Dwarves, attractive and well built with the legs and tail of a goat and small horns protruding from their foreheads. The women are as tall as Elves, sensual and voluptuous with long hair and long, pointed ears. The only physical characteristics that they share are the flashing smiles and sparkling eyes that have led so many into temptation.
Satyrs

Society: There are no Satyr nations, or even cities. Their origins are lost to the haze of history, and they haven’t stopped moving since. They do form intimate bonds with traveling companions and friends, often sexual relationships as well, but the concept of sexual or romantic monogamy is a foreign concept.
Sometimes a family group will stop moving and settle for a time if they find a good place for a homestead. If other families join them it could even grow into a real settlement. Once established, settlements like these tend to persist, but not grow. There is no social stigma associated with leaving or being a newcomer. Individuals passing through or families looking to settle for a time are given a house vacated by previous residents overcome by wanderlust, and when they move on another will get the residence. Even within small communities like these, the lines between couples and families are blurred. Needless to say, it can be confusing for non-Satyrs that visit or join the community.

Relations: Satyrs get along well with everyone, in general. Specific nations or communities, especially the more repressed or prudish ones, sometimes dislike Satyrs, and individual Satyrs may have developed prejudices of their own. Above all, Satyrs are individuals.
Both Fauns and Nymphs are omnisexual and can find attraction across species or even phylum lines, though they are only fertile with other Satyrs.

Alignment and Religion: Valuing freedom and individuality, but also respect and love, Satyrs tend towards Chaotic and Compassionate, though they can be any alignment. They have only a triumvirate of racial gods, but are happy to patronize any gods whose tenets they agree with.

Adventurers: There are as many reasons that a Satyr might take up the adventuring life as there are Satyrs in the world.


Satyr Racial Traits

+2 Charisma, +2 Constitution, –2 Wisdom: Satyrs are charismatic and tough, but they are impulsive.

Medium: Satyrs are Medium creatures and have no bonuses or penalties due to their size.

Normal Speed: Satyrs have a base speed of 30 feet.

Low-Light Vision: Satyrs can see twice as far as humans in conditions of dim light. See Additional Rules.

Keen Senses: Satyrs receive a +2 racial bonus on Perception skill checks.

Charismatic: Satyrs receive a +2 racial bonus on Perform and Diplomacy skill checks. Also there is never any penalty applied to Social skills due to being a different race.

Adventurous: Satyrs receive a +2 racial bonus on Survival and Profession (Sailor) skill checks.

Tolerance: A Satyr can consume a number of alcoholic beverages equal to 2 plus quadruple his Constitution modifier before being sickened for 1 hour equal to the number of drinks above this maximum. In addition, any damage caused by drugs or alcohol is halved.1

Hardy: Satyrs receive a +2 racial bonus on saving throws against poison and addiction.

Fleet: Run speed is increased by 20 feet at x3, and by 30 feet at x4.

Hooved: (Males only) Male Satyrs cannot wear footwear, magical or otherwise, unless specifically designed for hooves. For the purposes of gameplay their hooves grant the same protection as heavy boots.

Languages: Satyrs begin play speaking Common and Satyr. Satyrs with high Intelligence scores can choose from the following: Human, Sylvan, Elven, Sea Elven, Orcish, and Goblin.
